Saturday Oct 3rd saw the inaugural edition of the DTCC Alford CX race at Grampian Transport Museum. Around 80 riders raced the tight, feature packed course in fast, dry conditions.
Race 1 saw a flying Jordan Stronach (Spokes Racing Team) take a comfortable win from Rod Cowe (Aberdeen Wheelers) and Craig Robertson. Fine riding from Ellie Park (Johnstone Jets) put her in the driving seat in the Women’s race, finishing a lap up on Laura Murray and Denise Schofield (Pedal Power RT).
As the day wore on course started to cut up, especially around the tricky off-camber banking adjacent to the grandstand. It was here that Gary McCrae (Leslie Bike Shop / Bikers Boutique) launched his last-lap attack to pull away from the tenacious Struan Pryde (DTCC) for the win. Struan held on for a comfortable 2nd place from Tim Shoreman, while Julie Erskine (IKON - Mazda) took the women’s race from Amanda Tweedie (DTCC). There were also top 10 places for DTCC riders Malcolm Bain and Jon Entwistle, and Alford’s own Brian Duncan (Velocity 44).

Many thanks to our sponsors for the day, 6ºnorth and Endura, to Grampian Transport Museum for a fantastic venue and to all the marshals, helpers, riders and officials for a great day out. Next up on the DTCC CX Race Calendar is the 2015 Raleigh SCX Series race at Knockburn Loch on October 25th.
