What a race! Perfect mix of fast tarmac, muddy switchbacks and foot-oot corners. In the morning high winds made course set up, ehm, tricky…. Massive credit to all the marshals that helped fix the course in between races, ace job!

For the start of the B race the wind had mercifully died down to be replaced with a downpour. Once the B’s were underway the course became very different. All the fast flowing sections had been replaced by slippery adverse camber and the windy flat sections had turned into long runs for some and leg bucklers for others. In the B race we also saw some snapped shifters, rolled tubs and snapped mechs - the A racers couldn’t watch for fear.

By the time the A race came around the rain had eased off but the damage had already been done to the course. With the conditions changing each lap all previous course practice was rendered useless. The course had to be re-staked throughout the race to offer more grip to make sure you could actually ride the course. The A race was a brutal slog in the mud and it really separated the men from the boys! Massive credit to Jon and his team for organising an incredible race once again, BPGP could be entering the ranks of classic courses in Scotland if it keeps growing the way it has!
