Cx season ain’t over
The last few months has been a busy one for cyclocross race organisers and racers alike, but as the traditional cyclocross season comes to an end, those looking to keep racing will be delighted that there is still a busy calendar ahead.
Recent weeks have seen the return of course favourites - Battle of the Bing and Doonbank Trofee - as the first two round of the Super Quaich Series got underway. Kinneil CX also returned with a taster race to encourage those new to racing.
Looking ahead, January sees the return of the popular entry-level cyclocross event at Linlithgow. This year, the organisers are running two mixed field races for juniors and seniors: novice, taster and open. The novice race is for beginners, and entry includes a free coaching session beforehand.
The beginning of February sees the final round of the ever popular Super Quaich Series and the return of Thistly CX at Winton Castle. The format of racing will be similar to previous years - a Men's A open race and a Men's B race - but new for this year is a separate Women’s race. ***Update - this race has been cancelled***
February also sees the start of the 2022 South West Winter Series hosted by Annan Youth Cycling Club. There are three rounds throughout the month, located at Hoddom Castle, Ae Forest and Everholm Sports Complex in Annan. The Series features races for Junior age categories and an adult Open Race all under the Go Race banner, so ideal for riders of all abilities from novices right through to more experienced riders.
Later in the month (20 February), cyclocross at Chatelherault returns, hosted by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture in partnership with Clydesdale Colts / Royal Albert Cycling Club.
Details on how to enter these races can be found on our webpage here.
As always, please get in touch with the SCX Committee at hello@scottishcx.org.uk if you’re aware of a race that should be added to our calendar or if you are looking for race organiser support.
