HUPcc to support Scottish Cyclocross in 2024

The Scottish Cyclocross Association is delighted to announce that HUPcc, a Peebles based bike brand, has come onboard to support cyclocross for the 24/25 season.

A brand that started out making cyclocross bikes for children is a natural fit to support ‘cross, and will do so through the Scottish Cycling Performance Pathway, and via the Scottish Cyclocross Association, primarily supporting the newly named HUPcc Scottish Cyclocross Series.

HUPcc will support the Series by offering a range of prizes for the overall series podiums in each category, but their ‘Spirit of Cross’ initiative will continue their commitment to making our sport more inclusive. At each of the six rounds of the series, a rider who shows a standout attitude, or epitomises the spirit of cross, will be presented with a brand new HUPcc frameset!

With a mantra of ‘light enough to win, yet still affordable', HUPcc started out in 2016 creating race-specific, rider-sized components (largely to fill a gap in the children’s market) before adding light weight, UCI approved bike frames and wheelsets, in both youth and adult sizes, in 2019. Whilst cyclocross was their initial focus, HUPcc now offer MTB, Road and Gravel options.

On the companies commitment to supporting the sport, Owner Linette MacArthur, said:

“Since relocating the business to Peebles in 2021, we’ve been so impressed with the commitment to increase both cycling participation and bike racing in Scotland. It’s reflected in the pool of talented riders and cycling facilities available to everyone and is the envy of many south of the border! By supporting Scottish Cycling’s work towards these goals through the SCX series, our Spirit of Cross awards and Performance Pathway program, we hope to do our bit help, maybe with a Belgian twist.”

Howard Perkins, Chair of the Scottish Cyclocross Association, added:

"The Scottish Cyclocross Series represents the best of cyclocross in Scotland, bringing together the best riders from all over the nation, and support from HUPcc will reinforce the cohesion of the series. We are particularly looking forward to the excitement that the Spirit of Cross will bring, underlining just how fun and inclusive cyclocross is. We hope this will be the start of a successful partnership for years to come."

HUPcc also becomes official cyclocross partner of Scottish Cycling, and will support RACE National Cyclocross sessions throughout the winter, extending a discount to riders.

Of that support, Scottish Cycling CEO, Nick Rennie, added:

“We are delighted to welcome HUPcc on board as a our cyclocross partner, a brand that has clear synergies with Scottish Cycling. As a membership organisation, we’re committed to serving and enhancing our sport, supporting grassroots activity to get more people on bikes. With their affordable, but high-quality range of bikes and components, HUPcc can help to break down some of the real and perceived barriers to getting involved in cycling, whilst the partnership will also directly benefit our cyclocross community.”

The HUPcc Scottish Cyclocross Series starts on Sunday 22nd September at Camperdown Park in Dundee – entries here
