Committee update - return to racing

The SCX Committee is keen to encourage a safe return to cyclocross racing this season and is offering support to race organisers looking to put on races.

Following a series of race organiser meetings, it has become clear that whilst there is an appetite for racing, numbers of volunteers and venue availability has been severely impacted by the pandemic, and a 'normal' Scottish Cyclocross Series of 6 or 7 events is not going to be possible this year.

On a more positive note, we do have a small number of races in the pipeline, including some well-loved regular venues, and this year one of these will host the Scottish Championships as a stand-alone event. We are also aware of a number of smaller local events that will provide some much-needed grass-roots level racing. More details coming soon!

In this recovery year, the Committee is keen that a co-ordinated approach is taken to racing and urges all race organisers to get in touch if they intend on putting on a race.

To help support organisers this season, we have provided a guide for a 'lite' race day format, which we hope will help reduce the concerns around putting on a full day of races, and encourage more organisers to come forward with events. We will also shortly announce the results of our electronic timing tender and will make sure that this service is available to all.

Our webpage for organisers and race day guide is here.

Details of races will be added to our calendar here.
